Mentis Reduces Compressed Air Consumption by Up to 15% with Next-Generation S-PSA Technology

Mentis Engineering has introduced its next-generation S-PSA technology, designed to improve energy efficiency in on-site oxygen and nitrogen production. Under equivalent capacity and purity conditions, the system can deliver up to 15% lower compressed air consumption compared with conventional PSA generators.

A significant share of the total energy consumed by a PSA system is associated with the air compressor supplying the process. Reducing the amount of compressed air required per unit of gas produced therefore has a direct impact on electricity consumption, compressor load and overall operating costs.

Mentis S-PSA technology combines a patented integrated chemical dryer design with optimized valve cycles and advanced automation algorithms. Effective conditioning of the feed air helps limit moisture and contaminants before they reach the adsorbent beds. This supports the long-term performance of the molecular sieve or carbon molecular sieve while enabling stable purity and lower specific air consumption.

The efficiency improvement achieved with S-PSA technology may vary depending on production capacity, required purity, outlet pressure, ambient conditions, inlet-air quality and operating profile. Mentis sizes each system using actual site data and the customer’s gas-consumption requirements.

Next-generation S-PSA systems can be configured for laser cutting, food packaging, chemical and petrochemical plants, mining, aquaculture, wastewater treatment and medical oxygen applications.
